POMONA COLLEGE

RICHARD C. SEAVER BIOLOGY BUILDING
This new building is now the location of the Biology and Molecular Biology Departments for Pomona College in Claremont. The program includes teaching labs, research labs, faculty offices, departmental offices, classrooms, greenhouses, animal care, and multi-use and requisite support spaces. In conceiving the design, the firm chose to contrast an expression of scientific discovery with the complexity of biology and mankind. The planning and design of the project considered impacts on the surrounding neighborhood as well as impacts from neighboring buildings. The design integrates the scale and character of the traditional Pomona College buildings, adjacent to residential craftsman style bungalows, with an inspiring, forward-looking sense of the future. The building is designed to achieve a LEED™ Silver rating from the U.S. Green Building Council and includes a notable commitment to energy conservation, environmental responsiveness, and sustainable strategies.
CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY

CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY - THEOLOGY BUILDING
Concordia University Irvine commissioned a new building for the campus music, worship arts and theology department. The new building is a three level, 37,500 GSF facility that consists of two wings. The academic wing for Christ College – the campus school of theology. The support spaces for Christ College include a theology library, conference center, faculty offices, general classrooms, graphics studio, and workrooms. The new building is sited to create a new campus courtyard/quad with the existing Library/Theater Arts building. The court provides a new campus gathering spot for the southwest portion of the campus.

CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY

CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY - MUSIC WORSHIP BUILDING
Concordia University Irvine commissioned a new building for the campus music, worship arts and theology department. The new building is a three level, 37,500 GSF facility that consists of two wings. The music wing provides state-of-the-art choir and orchestral rehearsal and recital halls are included for orchestra and choir along with a new “live” studio. Music support spaces include all new practice rooms, faculty studios and specialty practice rooms for percussion and piano along with a new music library, classroom and study space.
CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY CHAPEL

CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY - CHAPEL EXPANSION + RENOVATION
The chapel was built in the 1980s, the building is the main campus chapel and worship center – also serving as the largest campus assembly hall and prime music performance space.
The renovation effects the entire building and expands the main sanctuary seating from 500 to 800 and reconfigures the hall to meet its focus as a worship center – while significantly improving its the visual presence and acoustical performance to meet the wide range of worship, lecture, and musical uses.
The renovation transforms the “back-of-house” from its current use into a new home for the campus ministry – Abbey West. A new “back stage” also supports the wide-ranging uses of the sanctuary. A new campus café has been added to the Center – linking it more strongly to the campus at large and to the new Music Worship and Theology Building planned to the west of the CUC.
